If you want a job, then Lorraine Phair is the woman to get you one. Lorraine started Pursuit Recruitment from scratch in 2002 and since then the company has continually expanded. Pursuit now has partner firms Pursuit Finance, Pursuit Training and Pursuit Outplacement, and an ever-increasing team of staff. Dynamic managing director Lorraine has never been one to rest on her laurels - she’s constantly thinking up new and exciting ways to improve her business. That’s why Pursuit Recruitment is once again sponsoring the Innovation category at the Essex Business Excellence Awards. “I love the awards – it’s a great way to keep in touch with other local businesses and a good opportunity for everyone to network,” said Lorraine, who’s been in recruitment for 23 years. As the team at Pursuit has grown, it’s given Lorraine the chance to get out and about more in the business world of Essex. She recently gave two presentations to out-of-work 16-24-year-olds at the Find Your Future event, organised by Chelmsford Borough Council. Lorraine talked to the youngsters about careers in administration and passed on her top tips for CV writing, job hunting and getting noticed. “Unemployment in this young age group is a real talking point at the moment,” Lorraine said. “It was a good day and I was delighted to be able to offer my expertise to the younger generation.” “I enjoy getting out there and meeting new people and new businesses,” she added. “That’s why it’s great to be part of the business awards for the eighth year running. “I would encourage businesses to enter because it can create fantastic opportunities for the winners. “We are sponsoring the Innovation Award again because we are a young company and we strive to be innovative ourselves. We will always support people who come up with new ideas.”
